Turn Your Research Into a Startup with Kairos

Accelerate Research Commercialization

  • Match with top venture builders, AI-powered startup tools, and expert mentors to rapidly validate, prototype, and enter the market.

Focus on What You Do Best

  • You bring the science. We bring the venture-building muscle—student talent, AI infrastructure, and a 6-month sprint that’s designed to move fast.

Access a Structured Innovation Ecosystem

  • Work alongside experienced entrepreneurs, digital health operators, VCs, and industry leaders—including AWS and major health systems.

Team Formation (1 month)

  • We pair you with two high-potential venture builders—one business-oriented, one technical. These could be postdocs, graduate students, or early-career professionals from across UNC and the Triangle.

Venture Studio Sprint (6 months)

A structured, AI-powered journey through 3 phases:

  • Problem Validation (3 months) – Confirm the unmet need and stakeholder demand
  • Value Proposition Development (1 month) – Design and test your solution’s core value
  • Pilot Sales (2 months) – Identify early adopters and prepare for go-to-market

Demo Day

  • At the end of the sprint, you’ll pitch your venture to investors, health system leaders, and innovation partners for feedback and potential support.

This program is ideal for UNC faculty with:

  • Digital health research, IP, or datasets
  • A desire to see their work impact the real world
  • Interest in partnering with students and operators
  • No requirement for prior startup experience

Kairos is built to reduce the burden on faculty. You contribute vision and subject-matter expertise. We surround you with the resources needed to test, build, and launch—efficiently and professionally.
