The way to better life has always been through innovation.

Eshelman Innovation is an emerging innovation engine that moves groundbreaking healthcare therapeutics and digital health ideas to reality.

About Us

We’re pointing innovation at the world’s toughest healthcare challenges.

Pandemics

Eshelman Innovation was critical to the foundation and funding of READDI (Rapidly Emerging Antiviral Drug Development Initiative). We helped build READDI, raising more than $130M for the purpose of discovering and developing broad-spectrum, small molecule antiviral drugs in preparation for the next pandemic.

Use Disorders

Eshelman Innovation is tackling use disorders affecting North Carolina communities. One example is our work in the opioid epidemic. Funded by the state of North Carolina through the NC Collaboratory, Eshelman Innovation is developing both novel pain drugs and launching digital health startup companies that can help to change the direction of this problem.

Cancer

We are developing new cancer therapeutics and diagnostics that can address cancer challenges of greatest need. Eshelman Innovation has worked closely with Dr. Andrew Satterlee on his glioblastoma program. For example, this program has discovered that their technology enables rapid engraftment, treatment, and analysis of fresh patient brain tumor tissue to one day help guide treatment against the most aggressive brain cancers.

Health Equity

In collaboration with North Carolina A&T University and the Humana Foundation, we are using our digital health venture studio, called PowerUp, to identify venture-backable startup companies that can impact food insecurity and mental health in minority communities.

Tomorrow’s Challenge

Eshelman Innovation is confident that it can point its innovation process at any future healthcare challenges. We are keen to collaborate with people/organizations that believe that innovation is the solution to such challenges.
